Biography
Dr. Maryam Mehrabi received her high school diploma in Experimental Sciences in 1999. She then pursued higher education in Biology at Razi University in Kermanshah. In 2004, she was accepted into the Master's program in Biochemistry at Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran. Subsequently, in 2008, she continued her studies in the Ph.D. program in Biochemistry at the same university. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2013 and began collaborating with Razi University as a faculty member of the Department of Biology.
During this time, she has taught the following courses at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels: Structural Biochemistry, Metabolism Biochemistry, Hormone and Vitamin Biochemistry, Metabolic Regulation, Protein and Nucleic Acid Biochemistry, Carbohydrate and Lipid Biochemistry, Advanced Topics in Proteins and Nucleic Acids, and Proteins in Health and Disease.
Her research interests include studying enzyme structure and kinetics using various spectroscopic techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, as well as other techniques like two-dimensional electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE. She is also interested in studying the effects of bioactive plant compounds on various diseases, including diabetes, different types of cancer, etc., through cell culture techniques and gene expression analysis using Real-Time PCR.
