Biography

Dr. Vahid Akmali began his academic path with a diploma in Experimental Sciences and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Shiraz University. He continued with a Master’s degree in Animal Biosystematics at Razi University and started his doctoral studies in the same field at the University of Tehran in 2005. He received his PhD in 2011 and has served since then as a faculty member in the Department of Biology at Razi University. Dr. Akmali has taught a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including: Invertebrate Zoology, Vertebrate Zoology, Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates, Ecology, Evolution, Zoogeography, Species and Speciation, Phylogeny, Molecular Biosystematics, Methods in Biosystematics, and Mammalogy. His research focuses on the fauna of the Iranian Plateau, particularly bats, salamanders, and cave-dwelling organisms, employing morphological, molecular, and phylogenetic approaches. In addition, Dr. Akmali is involved in research pertaining to mealworm cultivation. His scientific output includes over 100 publications and conference presentations in national and international venues.
